BS Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)

BS Medical Laboratory Technology (BS-MLT) is a four-years degree program that equips students with knowledge and skills in lab test used in the detection, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases. The program consists of general education subjects (such as English, Mathematics and statistics etc) and professional subjects (such as clinical Chemistry, Microbiology and Parasitology, Hematology, Blood Banking and Serology etc).

Learning Outcomes 

Upon the completion of Medical Laboratory technology program, the students:

  • Upon the completion of Medical Laboratory technology program, the students:

  • will demonstrate proficiency in performing a wide range of laboratory tests and procedures, including sample collection, analysis, and interpretation of results, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

  • will have a comprehensive understanding of the principles and applications of clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and molecular diagnostics, enabling them to support clinical decision-making.

  • will apply stringent quality control measures, laboratory safety protocols, and regulatory standards to maintain high levels of accuracy, prevent contamination, and ensure the safety of personnel and patients.

  • will utilize critical thinking and analytical skills to troubleshoot laboratory issues, interpret complex data, and make informed decisions that contribute to patient diagnosis and treatment.

  • will exhibit professional behavior, ethical conduct, and effective communication skills, working collaboratively with healthcare teams, and demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.

Job Market

  • Clinical Laboratories: Graduates can work in hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic laboratories, performing tests on patient samples to aid in diagnosis and treatment.

  • Research Laboratories: Opportunities exist in academic and commercial research institutions, where graduates can contribute to medical research and development.

Entry Criteria 

50% marks in HSSC (Pre-Medical or Equivalent).
